We need YOU to join our facilitator team!
The Centre for Effective Altruism has found that intro courses are one of the most effective ways to set people up with engagement in the effective altruism movement longer-term. We’ve had similar experiences here in the Netherlands. Therefore, we want to scale up our national intro course. However, to do this, we need a pool of facilitators we can draw on. That’s where you come in!
We want to excite, empower, and support participants in these intro-courses to the best of our abilities. To streamline quality and user-experience, we’ve decided to centralise our intro-course into a singular program, kicking-off at the same time on a national level, three or four times a year (which will also allow for cross-group discussion, more on this soon).
Are you looking for a tangible way to make a positive impact, confident in your understanding of EA ideas and principles, comfortable with facilitating small group discussions (or would like to learn how to be), AND have 4-5 hours per week to spare, then sign-up to join our facilitator team today!
What the role involves
- You will receive a facilitator’s guide with all the know-how you’ll need
- You will read each week’s core learning materials to prepare for group discussions (this will take about 2 hours)
- You will meet with your group of ~5 participants over online or offline each week, and facilitate a discussion about the learning materials (these meetings will run for 1.5-2 hours)
- Overall, we expect the weekly commitment to be 4-5 hours.
- The coordinator will also briefly check-in with you throughout the duration of the course on how your sessions are going (you can always request more check-ins if you like)
Additionally, you will receive professional facilitator training and a stipend will be available for the top-performing facilitators (more information to follow).
What you’re applying for
The current application form will be for the facilitator team. This will just be a list with people interested in facilitating. Sometime before a new national session starts (first one coming up early December 2022), we will contact everyone in the pool about their availability and draw the required amount of facilitators from there.
